By setting SMART goals, you’ll be able to focus on tasks that genuinely contribute to your success. For instance, before I wrote this blog post, I fixed a deadline to complete the blog writing within a day (a maximum of 2 Hours) and allocated precise minutes to each step of the writing process:

  • I checked my notes on the ideas I had jotted down in my notepad.
  • Researched the ideas and validated the chosen topic.
  • I created an outline for the blog post.
  • I wrote the first draft.
  • Edited the manuscript.
  • I created the blog cover page and other images.
  • Did the final review 

I go beyond that by stating a timeline for each of the tasks. This helps me not get too comfortable, which could lead to me dragging the work because I could say, “Yes, I wrote a blog post,” but how fast, quick, and time-efficiently did I carry out the task? Also, creating Systems can help you streamline your workflow and maintain efficiency. This rule is essential for enhancing freelancer productivity.

A well-organised freelancer is productive. Project management tools like Trello, Asana, or Notion allow you to create tasks, set deadlines, collaborate with clients, and track progress efficiently.
